Not much to report.

I am on a mission to find some new boots for my dog, Storm. Storm has a condition called Chronic Degenerative Something-or-Other which means his back legs tend to drag and he hurts his paws. So I have got some boots but they are more like socks and wear throuhgh very quickly.
I have found some better ones on a web site(www.dogmobility.com) who are entirely devoted to disabled dogs but are out of stock. So the search goes on....

I went to an exhibition with some friends this afternoon. It's called Recorders by Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, a Mexican-born artist, and is on at Manchester Art Gallery for a while. I read some very self-important and, quite frankly, pretentious blurb about it in the brochure which put me off a bit, but infact is was quite good. The artist uses biometric and surveillance technology to create artworks which "depend on your participation to exist". My favourite was a black room hung with flashing light bulbs. You grasp some handles which read your heart rate and then transfer it to one of the light bulbs. So the room was literally pulsating with the heartbeats of the people who had gone through there. I liked the idea of being part of the art work in such a dramatic but esoteric way.

In general, though, I thought it a bit disappointing and even a little lightweight considering the sinister nature of the materials used.

I think when I get used to blogging I might write in a more interesting style. It sounds a bit po-faced at the moment.

Well, I am back to teaching at the University this week so that will shut me up.
